Rotary District 9213 and Rotary District 9214 have signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Vaidam Health aimed at expanding access to specialized medical treatment for Ugandans battling cancer and sickle cell disease.
The partnership is expected to strengthen medical outreach programs and health camps organized by Rotary across different regions of the country, with a major focus on diseases that continue to threaten livelihoods and place immense pressure on families and the healthcare system.
Under the agreement, Vaidam Health will provide medical expertise and support through its network of specialized medical campuses and hospitals, connecting Ugandan patients to advanced treatment options, consultations, and care.
Speaking during the signing ceremony, Geoffrey Martin Kitakule described the partnership as both timely and strategic, especially as Uganda intensifies efforts to combat cancer and improve healthcare access.
“This partnership comes at a critical moment when Uganda is doing all it can to fight cancer and other life-threatening diseases. Through Rotary’s outreach and Vaidam Health’s expertise, we believe many lives will be saved and many families will receive hope,” Kitakule said.
Cancer and sickle cell disease remain among the leading health challenges in Uganda, with many patients struggling to access affordable specialized treatment. Rotary leaders say the collaboration will help bridge gaps in healthcare delivery, particularly for vulnerable communities in underserved areas.
The initiative will also see Rotary leverage its extensive grassroots network to identify patients in need during medical camps and community outreach programs, while Vaidam Health will provide pathways for specialized treatment and medical guidance.
Leaders from both Rotary districts emphasized that the MOU reflects Rotary’s continued commitment to humanitarian service and improving community wellbeing through sustainable partnerships.
The partnership is expected to roll out through a series of regional medical camps and awareness programs across Uganda in the coming months.
